Why: Kylie Jane Long, the daughter of avid skiers and former Boston Mills/Brandywine ski instructors, developed a rare, childhood liver cancer at the age of 8 months. She underwent multiple rounds of chemotherapy in attempts to beat her cancer; unfortunately, three days after her first birthday, she lost her battle. Based on the unique perspective Kylie’s family gained while living in the hospital with her, and through inspiration gained from all the community support they received, Kylie’s friends and family founded The Kylie Jane Long Foundation. Upon hearing Kylie’s story, the Boston Mills/Brandywine team was inspired to further her mission.

The Kylie Jane Long Foundation is an entirely volunteer run, local 501 (c)(3) organization benefiting area families. Its mission is to enhance the lives of local pediatric patients and their families by providing assistance, improving physical spaces, educating parents and medical staffs, and raising awareness of rare pediatric cancers.
